Barcelona coach Xavi has addressed the rumors about Ronald Araujo’s future, asserting that the defender is “happy” in Spain and that he wants the Uruguayan star to remain with the Catalan club.
As Barcelona approaches the summer transfer window, they are once again grappling with significant financial issues, to the extent that they need approval before signing Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
This financial strain may compel the club to sell some of their top players to recruit new talent, with Araujo being one of the names linked to a potential departure.
Despite the speculation, Xavi has made it clear that he does not want to sell the valuable centre-back ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Addressing the 25-year-old’s future, Xavi stated his desire for Araujo to stay and confirmed that the player is content at Barcelona.
“I always talk with Roni and he knows what I think. There are zero doubts on his future on my side,” Xavi said via Fabrizio Romano. “He knows what I want for his future and he’s happy here.”

Man United is considering signing Ronald Araujo of Barcelona.
Man United, who are looking to add a center-back this summer, is one team that has been linked to a transfer for Araujo in recent months. Heavens The defender is highly sought after by Bayern Munich and United, according to Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who reported on the matter in January.
The Uruguayan will be on their list of targets for the next transfer window. That summer, the transfer deal, which was approximately €80 million then, should be a little less. Although the transfer will be difficult to complete, Barcelona is expected to accept a sizable offer if it comes in at about the €80 million range.
